Last week on Thursday 19th July 2018 I attended
Christmas in July with some of my work colleagues at the Bierkeller in
Cardiff. I am a massive fan of Christmas
and I am ready to celebrate all year round.
However, I do think that decorations should not go up until December – I
don’t understand those who put them up in November and take them down in
February!
Starting at 6pm, we arrived at the Bierkeller for
complimentary Christmas cocktails and canapes.
Entertainment had also been put on with a festive photobooth and live
music. As the weather has been so hot
lately, it was bizarre to see staff walking around in their Christmas jumpers,
especially as we were all sat in summer dresses and wedges. There was even a magician Lord Harri Magic
who blew our minds with his tricks. He
unlocked my iPhone, using the power of his mind!
Around 7pm we moved into the Bavarian Bar. Guests sit together on the long wooden tables
(just like at Hogwarts). We pulled
crackers, put on the paper hats and read the cheesy jokes before tucking into a
hot buffet which included Christmas baguettes, pulled pork rolls with stuffing
and apple sauce, roast potatoes, stuffed potato skins, spicy chicken, and other
nibbles including spring rolls. There
was even a dessert course with baked cheesecake, black forest gateaux and other
mini treats.
The Oompah band show started around 8pm. If you have never been to one of these, you
must. They take place on Friday and
Saturday nights from 9pm. Packages can
also be purchased to include food and drink steins. The Oompah band had the crowd up on their
feet, performing actions to Christmas tunes and classic songs. There was even a giant conga line going
around the room. The DJ started playing
after they finished, but to be honest I needed a little sit down.
